I created a new user account and opened Access there and it was fine, however, there is an error when I try to run the wizards on either account. The Value data will read 0 by default. I know it's a pain, but one suggestion might be to save any files you want to keep, totally uninstall the program again, run a registry clean program if you have one, then defrag your hard drive. When Access 2007 is run, the Office 2007 setup runs, which changes all of the applications back to Office 2007 as default. I tested this on the Guest user account and this worked fine. I checked all windows and office upd. Your recommendation to add NoReReg value has fixed the problem for me. I save that file as type. I can't reproduce the problems of Office 2003 only on a system causing the problems. On first open I pointed the installer to the vbsetup. Office 2007 might want to have one more spin round the block with it's configuration dialog box, but that should be it. I wish this philosophy would stick in my country, sadly it does not as ofthen as other countries.

Had to uninstall Office 2007 and install Office Professional Edition 2003. Is there a registry hack that I can do so that the NoReReg will work for all users on that computer rather than just the current user that the NoReReg was performed in. Leo's suggestion did not work in my case, yours may be different. Any help would be greatly appreciated. So why all the praise? I have since turned off auto update.

I have a recurring problem with Word 2007. I've purchased Office Standard 2007 which only comes with Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint, but the laptop came with the full Office 2002 installed Publisher, Frontpage ,Access, etc which I hardly use, but just in case I did need to access them one day, it seems like a good idea to keep them. Office installer runs at first login for users. So near yet so far. Since then, every program shows the configuration screen on launch but finally starts : Outlook, Excel, Word Etc.
After installing the most recent service pack, then attempt to use the Microsoft Update site to download updates for Office. Take it all out, full uninstall. I get a screen popping up all the time that says Windows Installer preparing to install. Download and install Office 2007 sp1: Btw, you can't avoid the reconfiguration between Access 2007 and earlier versions. Error Message: There is no such object on the server. It is only on the screen for a couple of seconds and then goes away. I agree to install every time, but Windows Update suggests to install it again next time.
